                                                                                        Chapter 1

Year 2090 A.D
RavenDell High-Tech City
City Square
It was a breezy late afternoon in the City Square. The main city of RavenDell and it was the main attraction for all the citizens. Even the Militia was located in the City.
‘Run, Neal!’ Rae raised her voice as she guided Neal Norewood along the narrow streets of the City, turning left and right like running in a maze.
‘I’m! They are catching up.’ Neal raised his voice in return, allowing Rae to guide him through the streets although he knew his way around the City and he knew even the darkness streets in his dictionary map.
Indeed, the soldiers of Militia are catching up behind them, making smooth turns. Their booted feet stomped loudly on the ground in the empty narrow streets that surprised some of the nearby citizens.
Just when Rae saw an opening out of the street, she dashed for it with Neal, increasing her speed, hoping to be out of their grasp.
Just as she thought she was finally a quarter freed, she caught a familiar officer dashing towards her at the corner of her eye; she made a smooth-fast-enough turn to her right without skidding. Neal followed suit with his mechanic left leg not being a hindrance.
The officer cursed as he nearly caught Rae’s arm. Frustrated and determined never to lose them again, he drew out his laser gun and pulled the trigger without hesitation. The laser beam hit directly on Rae’s left leg, causing her to fall to the ground. The officer initially wanted to aim for Neal’s leg but failed.
Neal was surprised by the shot and Rae’s ‘downfall’. Finding no other alternatives, he was forced to pull out a small round metallic ball which was a smoke bomb. He threw it directly at the officer and ran as fast as possible after carrying Rae in his arms.
The bomb burst opened meters away from the officer’s face, blurring his vision in an instant. The officer covered his eyes with the back of his right arm, waited a few seconds and waved his gloved hand through the smoke. It was only then that he realised the duo was gone, nowhere to be found.
He cursed once again, this time louder than before.
‘How can they escape from my hands, from the hands of Zachery Xaver Bishop!’ He yelled, letting out his anger and frustration, scaring the other nearby citizens as well.
                                                      ********
Paxon Orphanage
Neal laid the unconscious Rae on her bed immediately after he stomped into the orphanage, shocking the kids who were happily playing in the lounge. An android kept watch on them, smiling all the way as she watches the kids.
He grabbed a few towels from the drawer and filled a basin with water, hoping that he could stop her bleeding in time.
Neal returned to the room to find a few kids standing by Rae’s bed side and the android from earlier was already tending to her wound on the back of Rae’s left feet. She was using her handkerchief to stop the bleeding but Neal knew it won’t work.
‘If you all don’t mind, I might need your helps.’ Neal said as he stepped to her bed side. The kids nodded their heads in agreement and started tending to Rae’s wound.
Neal tied the bandage around the wound while the kids and the android cleaned the blood around her wound. They tried to stop the bleeding as well but it will only work when Neal wrapped the bandage around the wound. From there, miracle starts to work itself.
He knew her secret, that she’s an Asper, that if she loses too much of her blood, it’s like taking two of her lives away.
Rae’s blood was like a medicine, a cure for any injuries or diseases and therefore, many seek for such miracles. That was one of the reasons why Rae wanted to keep her blood a secret, especially from the Militia. The one and only last group that she wanted her secret to be found out, if best, she does not want her secret to be found out by them.
‘However, I wonder why do you have to change your name, Penelope Shawcross?’
